Taran McCarnun (Renshi)
1977 -
Taran McCarnun Renshi is a proud and dedicated member of the Junsei Ryu Hoshin Jutsu Renmei and was in 2006
appointed as the Federations head of classical weaponry development (Kobudo, Kobujutsu, Batto, Kenjutsu).
Taran began his martial arts training around the age of five, when his father started instructing him in the
basics of Boxing, Judo and Ju-Jutsu, which he had studied during his years in the British Armed Forces. Aged Six Taran began
his formal study into Ju-Jutsu at a Dojo of the Nippon Dai Budo Kai (Dai Nippon Keitenshiya Ryu); It was here that Taran first
developed a passion for Japanese Kobujutsu following a demonstration by Fumon Tanaka Sensei at a national Martial-Arts
Convention.
In early 1990 Taran was introduced to Dr Ash McKee Shihan and was duly accepted as his personal student; a relationship
of trust and appreciation that has lasted to this day. Under the watchful eye of Dr Ash McKee (Shihan) and his father Brian
Wrightson (Kancho) Taran developed his technical abilities to such a degree that by the age of 17 he was permitted to grade
for Nidan (2nd Dan) at an adult level through the WJJF, at the time being the youngest person in the world to have done so.
