Created by the masters at the Hanwei forge the Practical Tanto is created as the perfect accompaniment to the Practical
Wakizashi and Practical Katana. With a high carbon steel blade forged and differentially tempered to producing A hard edge
and softer back. As with the Practical Wakizashi and Practical Katana the Tsuka (Handle) is formed from cast poly-resin with
an artificial Same (Rayskin) texture. Whilst these modern fitting make no claims to authenticity they are very well suited

This
Cold Steel Shinken Kwaiken Tanto (Live Blade) is perhaps one of the best comercially Tanto of its type available. The Kwaiken
when compared to other styles of Tanto is small but has a long blade mounted in a relatively short handle. The Kwaiken although
carried by samurai became very popular with women of noble birth, who would carry the Kwaiken tuckein into the folds of their
Obi or Kimono. The blade is hand forged and folded in atraditional "pattern welded" or "Damascus" style.
The Fuchi is formed from buffalo horn and the blade is retained by a traditional bamboo Mekugi (Peg). Both the Tsuka (Handle)
and the saya (Scabbard) are finished in a rich black laquer, giving this piece a subdued yet stylish apearance.

This Shinken Kiyohime Aikuchi Tanto (Live Blade) is an exceptionally high quality item for such a low price. The
Tanto features a differentially hardened and sharpened hand forged carbon steel. Each tanto is encased in richly lacquered
hardwood with a deep black colour offset. The Saya (Scabbard) is inlaid with a Shinjusou (mother of pearl) depiction of a
dragon chasing a flaming pearl (or rising sun) because of the nature of its construction the dragon on each and every tanto
is different from the next.
This Tanto is named after the japanese bodyguards of the Daimyo known as the Hatamoto
or litterally "The men beneath the banner". many hatamoto existed during the Tokugawa Shogunate and many more
were noted for their strict austerity and sombre appearance. This all black tanto could easily be hidden in the folds of ones
Obi or kimona, allowing the Hatamoto to be an affective combatant at all times.
The term Aikuchi is used
to describe a method of mounting a Japanese blade in which the Tsuka (Handle) meets the Saya (Sheath) without a Tsuba (Guard)
between them. Although the Aikuchi method of mounting was originally used for the Koshigana (Side sword) for ease of use when

This Shinken Kiyohime Aikuchi Tanto (Live Blade) is an exceptionally high quality item for such a low price. The
Tanto features a differentially hardened and sharpened hand forged carbon steel. Each tanto is encased in richly lacquered
hardwood with a deep red mahogany colour offset with and almost black grain to the wood itself. The Saya (Scabbard) is inlaid
with a Shinjusou (mother of pearl) depiction of a dragon chasing a flaming pearl (or rising sun) because of the nature of
its construction the dragon on each and every tanto is different from the next.
This Tanto is named after the
japanese legend of lady Kiyohime, a woman of great beauty who after being cast aside by her lover turned into a water dragon
in order to pursue the boat he was fleeing her in. Her lover who was in fact a priest, hid inside a bronze temple bell, but
as lady Kiyohime now had the senses of a dragon she soon discovered him, and with a great flaming breath melted the bronze
bell killing the priest instantly.
